Biography

Political:
    Ken has been a registered Libertarian since 1993, and served two terms as Chair of the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania. He’s run for public office ten times, including four runs for Abington Township commissioner, once for US Congress, twice for State Representative, and three record-breaking runs for Governor of Pennsylvania. In 2000 he sought the Libertarian nomination for US vice president, ultimately placing third in a field of five, as chosen by the delegates.

Professional:
    Ken has been an Information Technology professional since the age of 17. He holds three US Patents on connection-based architecture that are related to database theory and business process modeling. Additionally, Ken is a freelance writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, Toastmasters Magazine, and other publications, a professional parliamentarian, and a professional public speaker. He is currently the host of The Pennsylvania Project, a popular weekly talk radio show on WWDB in Philadelphia since April, 2019.

Author:
    In addition to his professional writing, Ken has authored two novels. His first novel, Atlas Snubbed, is a pastiche parody sequel to Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. It defines a new political concept, the Separation of Society and State, which addresses workable alternatives to tax-funded government-sponsored welfare, courts, business regulation, and more. His second novel, No Dogs on Mars: A Starship Story, is set 33 years in the future during the days when Mars is in the process of being colonized. Ken has also authored several short stories, flash fictions, and several songs related to the SpaceX Starships, all available at aStarshipStory.com.

Toastmaster:
    Ken has been a Toastmaster since 1997, achieving his first Distinguished Toastmaster status in 2005 and second DTM in 2020. In 2001 he won the District 38 Table Topics Contest for impromptu speaking; in 2005 he won their Speech Evaluation Contest; and in 2010 he won their Humorous Speech Contest—each of the three victories being the highest attainable in Toastmasters—and in 2021 he won the District 38 International Speech Contest. In addition, he has served on the District 38 Executive Council in several capacities, including Division B Governor (President's Distinguished), Area 15 Governor (Distinguished), District Parliamentarian (four terms), and District Sergeant-at-Arms. His most-noteworthy achievement in Toastmasters came in 2008 when District 38 presented him with the prestigious John E. Foster, DTM Achievement Award. He is currently a member of four Toastmaster clubs: Positively Charged, ETS Toastmasters, In-Person Toastmasters, and Drexel Speaks, and he is the founder of the last two, plus We the Speakers Toastmasters.

Personal:
    Ken is a Philadelphia native now living in nearby Abington Township. He and his first wife Roberta have been married seemingly forever, and have three adult daughters and four grandchildren (so far). In 1975 he earned his B.S. in Physics from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, and he is a graduate of the Abington Citizens Police Academy. In his spare time, Ken enjoys whitewater canoeing, camping, backpacking, ocean cruising, and railroading. He has also performed volunteer work for the Philadelphia Folksong Society and WXPN public radio in Philadelphia. A hi-res headhot is available here.
